Just days ago, Dubai celebrated another remarkable achievement at the Billion Followers Summit, which adopted “Purposeful Content” as its theme this year. The summit redefined content creation as a responsibility before it is a pursuit of fame, and as a message before it is a race for numbers. Today, Dubai celebrates the Hope Makers—the good-hearted individuals whose efforts have transformed personal initiatives into tangible community-driven projects for change.

In the sixth edition of the Hope Makers initiative, which received more than 15,800 nominations, the true meaning of competition was renewed—a competition for doing good, taking initiative, and serving communities, rather than competing for the spotlight, media attention, or recognition.
These initiatives brought stories born from hardship to life, transforming challenges into meaningful solutions. They were led by people who chose to become part of the solution rather than remain mere witnesses to the problem. The celebration was not simply an act of recognition; it was a clear message that investing in people is the most sustainable investment of all.
Fawzia Jabara Mahmoudi was crowned the “First Hope Maker” after receiving the highest percentage of votes at the closing ceremony of the sixth edition, in recognition of her initiative to establish Operation Smile and her success in facilitating more than 19,000 surgical procedures. Through her work, she has restored hope to countless families and brought smiles back to the faces of those in need.
In a generous gesture honoring the three Hope Makers, with AED 1 million awarded to each, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, said: “Everyone is a winner in Dubai.”
This statement confirms that victory here is not measured by a title or a prize, but by honoring an idea, recognizing effort, and giving a platform to everyone who has chosen to create a positive impact in their community.
