The Federal National Council’s parliamentary division is participating in the 17th plenary session of the Parliament of the Mediterranean, held from February 28 to March 3 in Rabat.
The delegation includes Her Excellency Aisha Mohammed Al Mulla, Chair of the Division’s Group in the Parliament of the Mediterranean; Dr. Hind Hamid Al Alili, Vice Chair of the Group; Maryam Majid Bin Thaniya, Dharar Belhoul Al Falasi, and Sabreen Hassan Al Yamahi, members of the group; and Afra Rashid Al Basti, Assistant Secretary-General for Parliamentary Communication.
According to the agenda, the session will open with speeches by the Presidents of the House of Councillors and the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco, and the President of the Parliament of the Mediterranean.
The opening session will review several topics, including the work of the Third Standing Committee on Dialogue among Civilizations and Human Rights and its activities for 2023; the presentation of a report and resolution on combating human trafficking and migrant smuggling in the Parliament of the Mediterranean region; and the use of artificial intelligence and its impact on energy efficiency.
The agenda for the first day of the meeting includes a session dedicated to the Parliamentarians of the Mediterranean Parliament, a briefing by the Parliamentarians’ Rapporteur on the Right to Water and Sanitation, and another briefing on the future activities of the Parliamentarians’ Economic Platform after the Marrakech Forum.
The agenda for the second day of the meeting includes a review of the work and activities of the First Standing Committee on Political Cooperation and Security Issues for 2023, a review of the report and resolution on geopolitical and security developments in the regions of the Parliamentarians’ Mediterranean Region, and a review of the report and resolution on the threats of terrorist and criminal activities to the security and stability of the regions of the Parliamentarians’ Mediterranean Region.
The agenda also includes the election of the new President of the Parliamentarians of the Mediterranean for the period 2023-2024, the election of members of the Bureau, and a session dedicated to the Parliamentarians during which the Secretary-General will present the Parliament’s activities and the financial report for 2022. The winners of the Parliamentarians’ Mediterranean Prize for this year will be announced.
